nt and Windows 2000 servers
An NT or Windows 2000 Server is a great choice for your Dedicated Server. A powerful and reliable operating system, NT has many applications not found on other platforms, including ASP, FrontPage, Cold Fusion (soon available for Linux), Siteserver, MS SQL and Microsoft Exchange.
Combined with remote management software such as PCAnywhere, you have the ability to securely manage your server remotely - from any Windows machine anywhere - just like it was on your own desktop.
NT Servers are quite straightforward to administer owing to most user's familiarity with the Windows Operating System. As you would expect with a Microsoft product, a large number of tools, support documents and software products exist.
Win2K or NT?
We've been testing Windows 2000 for some time now and are happy to report that it is an excellent platform for a dedicated server. Not only is it way faster than NT, but also more stable, powerful and functionally easier to use. The administration tools built in make creating new users and websites a simple task.
