To what extent would I administer my Windows NT™ account, i.e., would I have to rely on tech support for things like DSN setup? A: MS Access™ is supported. DSNless connections (ODBC connections configured at run-time in your scripts) are recommended over File DSN connections for reliability and speed, however if you need a File DSN setup we will install it for you at a minimal fee. More information on DSN and DSNless connections may be found at: http://www.asplists.com/learn/dbopen.asp Q: What needs to be done to set up a DSN/ODBC facility for database access? A: You need to: 1. Upload via FTP your Access or other compatible database to the 'database' directory off of FTP root. 2. Send an email to ntadmin@reliaval.comwith the source name so we can set up the File DSN/ODBC source for you, or simply use a DSNless connection instead. SQL™ Database Username 3. SQL™ Database Password 4. SQL™ Database File Size (in MB) 5. SQL™ Database Log File Size (in MB) 6. Any SQL™ DSNs you need setup. Or will it just start working? A: No, it should continue working... However, you may encounter a problem when uploading if you get an "access denied" error. This will occur when the database is locked by another process (i.e. Internet Information Server™ - your web site.) In this case, contact us and let us know you want to replace the database and we will delete your current DSN and after you upload it, we will re-create the DSN for you. A: You must place the database in the 'database' directory off of FTP root, then supply us with a source name for the DSN and we will set it up. Q: Does it cost anything extra to have setup another Cold Fusion™ datasource? A: Please contact sales@reliaval.com for an answer to this question. Q: Where else can I get the information on using/uploading Cold Fusion™ and databases? A: Just put the database in the database directory; give us a DSN to set up for the pages, and then upload the .cfm pages to use it. Q: As we are using SQL™ Server as backend for our site. We need a clarification regarding that. Whether we need to send our table scripts to create database for us, or else you will give us access to create our database for our site. A: All SQL™ Server accounts have access to port 1433 so they may connect using a local copy of Enterprise Manager™, Visual InterDev™, etc. You must specify the SQL™ database name, login name, password, database size, log file size, and DSN information (if applicable.) After that, we set up a blank database you may connect to on port 1433 of the server to transfer your objects/data and get up and running.
